Quality Control
Since the company was founded, Meta Tec has held an excellent quality record with all of its customers. One of the key features of Meta Tec's quality system is that the operators are responsible for the quality of the parts that they are producing. Meta Tec which is an ISO 9001:2000 certified company does not use line inspectors to check parts, but instead requires that the operators make checks of key features of a sampling of parts. The values that the operator measures are recorded on an attribute sheet and in some cases recorded directly into the SPC system. Statistical control is used throughout the company. During low volume part runs a mini capability study, under the guidelines of 1.33 Cpk, is always done to check the conformance of the parts. During high volume part runs a full 30-piece study is done to check conformity. Fixtures also under go a statistical test. Before any fixture is approved and released to production it must first produce parts that meet a 1.33Cpk.
Meta Tec currently has 3 active CMM machines. The newest and largest is a Wenzel LHF series machine with 6000mm of X travel, 3000mm of Y travel, and 2000mm of Z travel. This is a solid granite machine that is housed adjacent to the large machining building in its own climate controlled room. Our secondary CMM is a Sheffield machine with a 30" X 40" table and full DCC control. Both machines allow parts to be checked around the clock. Meta Tec requires that at least one part be checked per shift and in many cases more. Meta Tec also uses a Romer Arm measuring system, which makes for fast and accurate quality checks of rough weldments and fixtures without having to move them to the large CMM.
Meta Tec also has non-destructive testing equipment and an AWS certified weld inspector on staff.
