In order to provide the quality and delivery performance that Meta Tec achieves, it was important for them to purchase high quality equipment that had the reliability, repeatability and size envelope they needed.

The heart of Meta Tec's precision machining division is the large machining area. A 30,000 sqft building houses Meta Tec's three 5 Axis bridge style machining centers as well as the large capacity gantry style CMM. The first bridge machine that Meta Tec purchased was the Okuma MCM-B machining center. This is an elevating bridge style machine with a two-spindle indexing head that can change from vertical machining to horizontal machining in about 45 seconds. Meta Tec next expanded their capacity with the addition of the Nicolas Correa FP 50/60. This machine has a 2-meter by 6-meter table equipped with a head changer for increased productivity. The latest and largest machine in Meta Tec's lineup is the Correa FP-Versa. This machine has a total of 14 meters of X travel across its dual tables and 1.5 meters of Z travel to make it one of the largest machining centers in the county of its type. This machine's other unique features include the UAD head which can index in 2 axis to any position within 0.1 degree.

Meta Tec also has numerous other smaller CNC machining centers to suit any size job. Vertical machining centers range from Mori Seiki's small MV-Jr to their largest vertical the MV-80 with its 120" of X travel. Horizontal machining centers range from 500mm full 4th axis pallets to 1000mm indexing pallets

Fabrication Equipment

Meta Tec's fabrication company handles everything from first cut operations to paint and package of products leaving to the customer. Oxy torch, standard plasma, high definition plasma, and NC saws handle all of the first cut operations. Multiple grinding and shotblast machines handle the cleaning of piece parts before they are sent on to the next operations.

Along with the 16 manual GMAW weld stations Meta Tec also utilizes an ABB robotic welder. Because of the guaranteed weld penetration and even more importantly the weld repeatability provided by the robot, Meta Tec works toward moving as many parts as possible to be robotically welded. Meta Tec also has brake press capacity up to 350 ton as well as plate rolling equipment.
